In the world we live in we need to share with others with our ideas and views in many aspects. We need to communicate so that to prevent misconception and misunderstanding. People may have different interpretations of others’ reactions if they do not have thorough communication. The result of miscommunication may be of different levels and disastrous. People may develop mistrust if they do not communicate. Communities may result in conflicts. Korean War was regarded as the result of miscommunication between the two sides. US side did not expect Chinese to be so sensitive and the Chinese was suspicious of the purpose of the US military action as there was no communication between the two sides back in the 1960s.
Although there is unlikely to be any wars to me, communication is important as a skill of engineer and a citizen. As an engineer, communication is as important as engineering proficiency. Nowadays most engineers work in groups to tackle problems. Sound communication among members is essential so that the team can be more efficient prevent misunderstanding among colleagues. As a citizen we need to communicate with others in the society such as our family members, friends and the people we may not even know. We can create our bond with each other so that we can feel better. The popular social networks such as facebook and twitters show the need for communication among people.
Communication can also induce social advancement in a less mature society. In the Internet era, the information is so free that it seems futile to suppress others’ views. The power of “onlooking” by the netizens in China has created so much pressure to the companies and firms so that many of Chinese firms are on the combat with fire, thieves and reporters.
Yes human beings are social animals and the innate need to communicate is always there.
